Risk Portfolio Manager recruitment

My client, a global Investment Bank, is looking for a Portfolio Director/Manager to provide oversight for a global portfolio of Risk projects.

The Global Risk Function of my client comprises of circa 30,000 FTE across the Risk functional areas (Risk Strategy, Wholesale Market Risk, Retail Risk, Operational Risk and Security Fraud Risk Compliance). This role will support the global businesses and as such requires a Portfolio Manager who will be able to take on oversight responsibilities across a portfolio of large, complex change projects with executive level sponsorship across multiple business areas and geographies.

The programmes within this portfolio underpin the delivery of of the re-engineering of Risk to improve its cost and risk profile, operating efficiency and service quality. In addition to the Risk Change Delivery area the role holder will also be expected to provide ongoing development and leadership of programme delivery processes including, but not limited to, governance, reporting and financials.

In short, the ideal candidate will be expected to perform the following:

- Oversee a portfolio of high profile programmes across multiple geographies and business areas.
- Liaise with Senior Executive level stakeholders both inside and outside the Risk Function.
- Liaise with Senior Programme Managers across all functions/geographies.
- Coordinate governance framework for portfolio of programmes.
- Manage reporting against programme scope, programme plans and cross programme dependencies.
- Support production of senior stakeholder reports periodically and on an ad hoc basis.

Typical targets will include:

- Deliver against customer need, on time and on budget.
- Benefits tracking
- Cost reductions
- Realise measurable improvements in customer satisfaction and service quality
- Address faults in project deliverables at appropriate stage.

Major challenges of this role are the fact that this is a global portfolio and stakeholder management is understandably complex. Benefit tracking and realisation is also highly complex. Due to the volume and high profile nature of the programmes ad hoc requests may be very frequent. The ideal person will be able to organise their work to a high level and cope with senior stakeholder management.

The ability to work well under pressure is a must-have. The role holder will also have a Project Management Qualification. The client will be looking for a high degree of competence and proven track record in programme delivery, both in execution and coordination roles.

Candidates with experience of working in different locations around the world will be viewed favourably.
