Risk Practice Head recruitment

The Financial Risk practice aims to work in the areas of credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk and underwriting risk providing its service and solutions to retail banking, investment banking, asset manager and insurance firms to comply with Basel and Solvency framework and strengthen the front office with stronger risk management practices.  

This is a leadership role in RC BU within the Banking Financial Services Business Unit of Wipro.

Practice building - The Practice Manager will be responsible for building and managing a Global Practice in the identified area of focus within the risk management  domain. This will involve managing the PL for the practice and grow revenues through domain led offerings and consulting. The Practice Manager will work in tandem with the Account teams to drive business growth.   He/She will manage a team that brings deep industry subject matter expertise and transformation consulting.

Branding - The Practice Manager through his/her industry thought leadership, will position Wipro as a transformational partner and thereby drive Wipro’s participation in the strategic programs of the client. The Practice Manager is expected to bring a lot of industry specific context and relationships that will strengthen Wipro’s positioning with clients. He/She should participate and contribute in prominent industry fora.

Solutions - The Practice Manager along with his team will leverage understanding of industry needs and identify relevant solution ideas, create business case and implement the solutions. As part of the PL function, the Practice Manager is expected to focus on solution led revenues. Practice Manager will liaise with CXO’s in client organization to understand their business problems and provide robust solutions.

New Business Models Practice Manager will engage with the players in the RC ecosystems - partners, clients, industry associations and regulators to build new business models including utility offerings, monetization of IPs and high end KPO/ consulting practice.

Responsibilities 

 

• Lead preparation of Wipro’s response to regulatory consulting papers, exposure drafts, draft legislation and Professional standards;

• Build deep competency in financial risk areas. Build a team of SMEs and consultants.  Train the team in the emerging areas.

• Identify, Create and lead creation of artifacts, baselines, IPs and solutions as part of competency and solution building in the emerging areas

• Leverage Industry best practices in client engagements.

• Lead workshops organized for clients through thought leadership and Industry expertise.

• Proactively identify new solution ideas and help implement them for clients.

• Engage eco-system- clients, partners, industry associations and regulators to establish brand Wipro and identify and business opportunities

Skills

Qualifications 

 

• The role requires a good exposure to the risk management functions within the BFSI firm. The candidate should have good understanding and experience across various risk types. Risk Management across various firm type (banking, asset manager and insurance) will be preferred. Experience with products from leading vendors is a must.

• The candidate needs to have strong expertise in the core Risk Management  areas like :

oCompliance to Basel II, II.5 and Basel III

oCompliance to Solvency II

oCredit, Market, Liquidity and Underwriting Risks

oRisk Management at Front Office systems at Banks and investment banks

oPricing/Valuation, Product Control, Counterparty Risk, Pre-Trade Risk Management/Analytics

oCredit Risk, Market Risk, Liquidity Risk and Underwriting Models and third party software application

Experience  

• 15+ years’ experience in the industry in Risk Management at BFSI firms

• At least 7 years of leadership experience having lead implementation of Basel II/ II.5 or Solvency II for a BFSI firm in US or Europe

oas a part of the BFSI firm risk management or front office leadership

ofrom Big 4 consulting organization

oBFSI firm  Risk IT head

oFront Office  IT head and having lead front office transformation for risk management

• Experience with global delivery 

• Proven ability to launch and execute successful initiatives in complex and challenging environments. 

• Excellent client presence and proven client relationship building capability; willing to provide senior / top level client references

• Excellent academic credentials from top tier programs - B.A. / B.S/ B.Tech , FRM/PRM, MBA required, PhD, CERA, Actuary strongly preferred

• Excellent verbal and written communication and  networking skills 

• Experience in motivating and leading multi-cultural, cross functional teams 

• Ability to work independently and proactively in a dynamic and ambiguous environment 

• Willingness to be onsite at a client location and able to travel extensively to support the needs of the business

• Should have participated/contributed in industry seminars conferences, books, blogs, committees, thought leadership
