About the Job:
This role has been created to assist in the delivery of the investment mandate monitoring program at SWIP. The role holder will be responsible for reviewing any pre/post trade breaches identified by thinkFolio (TF), supporting efforts to resolve the issue and, were applicable, escalating to Operational Risk.
Key accountabilities:
The role entails ensuring that TF system breaches are investigated and, were necessary [i.e. passive / active Fund Manager (FM) breaches], brought to the attention of the relevant FM Operational Risk. The role holder will be closely involved in the maintenance of TF compliance rules to assist SWIP in complying with client, regulatory and internally imposed investment restrictions.
Regular tasks -
- Accurately efficiently manage the TF rule breaches on SWIP's 800+ funds in a timely fashion
- Monitor funds daily to ensure they conform to the relevant regulations investment restrictions
- As required, review test the pre/post trade rules for all the FI, cash, equity other fund types
- Ensure that TF system breaches are investigated
- Assist in resolving Mandate Adherence TF 'coding' Data Management 'data' issues
- Liaise with the relevant FM on passive / active breaches, providing FMs with support in rule interpretation data evaluation when assessing rule output
- Where necessary, log breaches on Operational Risk's Events Database manage their queries
- General TF maintenance with regards to closing funds Capital Protected / Protected Capital fund launches
Data TF -
- Assist in raising, tracking resolving TF items (data, coding, system enhancements, small change) on the team's 'issues log'
- Actively pursue the reduction of SWIP's manual controls through TF coding working with DMT to enhance data
- Liaise with BTM to accurately define TF enhancement requirements (stretching TF capabilities) to resolve outstanding issues. If requested, assist IT in testing what has been developed
General -
- Enhance, develop and maintain a general risk and compliance culture and awareness within SWIP
- Assist in maintaining the team's Operating model, procedures coding protocols
- Actively seek to improve personal TF rule writing / coding knowledge assist in training others
- Be part of a collegiate team approach towards rule coding consistency / efficiency
- Keep management informed (verbal/written), on a timely basis, of issues and matters arising
- Support management undertake any special projects / tasks as may be required from time to time
- Maintain department files records (both paper electronic) in accordance with approved procedures
Skills/Experience required:
- An understanding of the investment management business
- Knowledge of TF or another such compliance system
- Experience in identifying mandate / prospectus 'rules' and coding appropriate controls
- Awareness of UK and overseas regulations applicable to the investment management business
- Experience in developing and executing test plans to provide assurance that key controls are operational
- Ability to work accurately and within timescales
- Excellent communication skills
- A good understanding of excel
- Have completed or desire to work towards the Investment Management Certificate
