Summary:
Deutsche Bank follows an integrated risk management approach under the independent Legal, Risk Capital function, which includes Credit Risk Management. The Credit Risk Management team in Tokyo manages credit risk on behalf of Deutsche Bank Group, Corporate and Investment Banking Division in Japan. The team manages a broad mix of Corporate and Financial Institution (FI) counterparties across a full product suite to foster a full overview of credit markets and trends. Experience of analysing both counterparty types and a strong derivative knowledge is required.
Responsibilities:
Deputize for the Head of CRM and manage a team of dedicated credit analysts, covering a portfolio of Corporate and FI counterparties. This role will involve managing the portfolio within defined risk parameters, review credit proposals, write credit reports, recommend and (after an appropriate time and formal award of credit authority) approve transactions, and negotiate credit related documentation. Products covered include the full spectrum of commercial banking facilities (committed loans, trade finance) and capital markets products including FX, commodity, interest rate and equity derivatives.
- Represent CRM in conference calls, business meetings and management committees
- Monitor target markets and undertake due-diligence calls and visits
- Develop and implement counterparty specific de-risking strategies
- Responsibility for managing a portfolio of circa 30-40 credit groups (Corporate and FI)
- Support business by providing trade structuring solutions
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of credit analysts
- Ensure portfolio quality and documentation standards are maintained
- Monitor market, industry and counterparty developments and Develop and adhere to counterparty as well as industry strategies
- Interact and co-ordinate with other Control and back Office functions within the branch
- Contribute to improvements in CRM processes with an aim to raise efficiency
Key Competencies:
- Ability to engage with business and help/ guide their transactions/ structures such that they can be facilitated within the bank’s risk appetite
- Ability to think laterally, to manage transactions independently, identify key risks in more complex and structured transactions and provide recommendations to senior management in the context of bank’s risk appetite ‘risk versus reward’ balance
- Strong derivatives knowledge
- Familiarity with providing standalone ratings for counterparties or structured trades
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, present factual information in a structured, clear, confident and concise way
- Able to take a leading role within the team and develop more junior members
- High self-motivation and hungry to learn
Qualifications:
- Minimum Undergraduate Degree
- Formal credit training
- CFA desireable
Experiences:
- At least 8 years Credit Risk experience
- Broad product knowledge
- Experience with documentation
- Preferably within an investment banking credit environment
- Overseas assignment
Skills:
- Strong credit skills
- Good knowledge of principal risk mitigating documentation techniques
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to people at all levels
