As part of an integrated health care delivery system, UPMC Health Plan partners with UPMC and community network providers to improve clinical outcomes and the health of the greater community.

 

We are currently seeking candidates for a full-time Medical Underwriter I to help support the Underwriting Department. As the Underwriter you will assess the risk of potential groups or individuals insured by the Health Plan.  In order to assess risk, the medical underwriter I utilizes the risk assessment processes and models developed by Underwriting Management, while adhering to the established Underwriting Guidelines.  Communication of underwriting and rating issues to other members of the Health Plan is also the job of the medical underwriter I. 

 

Basic Qualifications:

- Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years direct patient care clinical experience required
- Competency in mathematics/statistics and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required

- An additional degree in Mathematics, Finance, or Business Administration preferred 
- Health insurance underwriting experience preferred
