Job Description: Clinical Practice - Provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way. Incorporates differences into the provision of care. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, or protocols. Utilizes assessment data to identify patient care needs, to include patient education and continuum of care plan. Recognizes abnormal assessment data and incorporates findings into the plan of care: validates and revises expected outcomes based on assessment. Organizes and coordinates patient care activities to include procedures, therapies and tests, as indicated, to achieve the desired patient outcome. Engages in basic caring practices to include patient education focusing on psychosocial and physiological needs and serves as a resource to the patient for immediate healthcare needs. Provides compassionate care and maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Able to state rationale for clinical decisions based on educational knowledge. Able to identify and articulate patient rights and variables affecting patient outcomes including age, ethnicity, cultural diversity, religious beliefs, physical disabilities, social and economic constraints. Accurately documents all patient care activities as per documentation standards. Quality/Best Practice - Utilizes standards, guidelines, and evidence based research for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice to enhance patient outcome. Supports unit quality/performance improvement. Will maintain current practices through utilization of evidence based research. Demonstrates interest in improving job performance through formal/informal means in area relevant to practice (classes, workshops, reading, networking). Professional Development - Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Leadership skills demonstrated in decision making and problem solving. Recognizes the need for continued education and consults with unit leadership to develop educational goals, identifies leadership attributes. Demonstrates evidence of self-development activities. Appropriately delegates tasks and provides direction to healthcare team members. Basic Qualifications: Experience : 1-3 years of previous RN experience required. 1-3 years of previous Same Day Care experience preferred. Education: Associate of Arts degree or a Diploma in nursing required. Other Qualifications: Training: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire. License or Certification: Licensure Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Registered Nursing (RN) License in the state of Minnesota required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire. Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hours/Pay Period: 40 Schedule Details: Shifts include, but not limited to 0600, 0800, 1000, 1230 M-F Weekend Schedule: Rotating Saturdays and Holidays for SDC; rotating call and weekends and Holidays for PACU Staffing Specialist: Cassie Johnson Mayo Clinic is an affirmative action / equal opportunity educator and employer.
