Supervises the operations of a single shift, maintaining high productivity. Ensures accurate nursing advice is provided.
Essential Functions:
- Hires, trains, supervises competent, productive, motivated staff to provide high quality telephone service to Kaiser members.
- Coordinates directs daily shift operations in collaboration w/other supervisors.
- Ensures cost effective operations while remaining within budgetary guidelines on daily basis.
- Collaborates w/management team to plan achieve center goals objectives.
- Ensures all are answered on a timely basis.
- Assists staff w/resolving the more complex clinical questions /or calls.
- Troubleshoots minor problems w/computers phones.
- Ensures clinical practice is aligned to The Joint Commission, NCAQ, federal, state, local regulations.
Secondary Functions:
Supervises Continuing Care Advice activities which includes Hospice, SNF, and Home IV and SNF Program. Provides scheduling support and monitors staffing maintaining appropriate staffing levels and skill mix. Participates in developing, reviewing, and updating departmental policies and procedures. Assess and monitors clinical nursing practice for optimal patient care. Designs and evaluates processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum. Follows-up on all clinical issues. Responsible for and/or supporting the CCAP Quality and Performance Improvement Program, as assigned. Monitors quality of care delivered, ensuring it meets age-related and developmental needs of patients. Supervises staff, assesses their needs and identifies educational opportunities. Participates in new employee screening and orientation. Acts as patient advocate. Assists in developing, monitoring and maintaining the budget. Identifies and recommends opportunities to reduce costs. Manages and resolves human resource, employee and department safety, and risk management issues. Assists with timekeeping and approval of time cards utilizing TIME system. Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting noncompliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Previous experience (usually 1-2 years) as a supervisor/leader in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience in medical office/ambulatory care preferred.
- Experience in staffing/scheduling preferred.
- BSN degree required.
- Current California RN license required.
- Equipment knowledge (i.e., ACD, VRU, LAN) about basis operation purpose required.
- Basic knowledge of PCs related software required.
- Must have ability to perform duties in heavy workload equipment.
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission, federal, state, local requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 3 yrs experience in acute, hospice, homehealth, advice or SNF setting including supervision of front line staff; ability to work well under pressure; ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time; excellent interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to work independently while referring appropriately to SNF/Advice Management team; excellent language skills; ability to handle confidential information; ability to attain information regarding patient care, and appropriately transfer important information; ability to make good judgments about patient clinical needs and benefit issues. Ability to demonstrate professionalism in manner and dress; knowledge of levels of care and appropriate settings for each level. Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act and relevant state and federal regulations. Ability to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
