The business:
A privately owned and profitable, international hospitality business which owns a collection of prestigious hotels chains within the UK and overseas. Currently experiencing a time of great growth and change involving senior leadership changes, rebranding, restructure and extensive development of the Finance function. They are looking to build the best Finance team in the industry through attracting in top talent to join them within pivotal Financial Director roles, based within their hotels, with a view to these individuals rotating through various Hotel FD and group finance roles to maximise their development and exposure.

The initial role: The overarching objective of the Hotel FD is to maximise the value of the hotel through the delivery of consistent, predictable, growing, high-quality earnings balanced with an appropriate approach to risk management. The Hotel FD is equally a key member of the Finance Leadership team and ultimately the Group CFO has primary responsibility for their career progression. This is a dual role participating as a core member of the local hotel management team on a day-to-day basis, both from a financial and commercial perspective, while acting as a critical link to the wider Finance function. Individuals will be expected to rotate between hotels and or the corporate offices (London) every 2 – 3 years.

Responsibilities:

• Take pride in nurturing a high performing team of professionals
• Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the entire Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, PL and Cashflow)
• Collaborate with the activities of the corporate center e.g. accounts payable, compilation of the statutory accounts etc
• Ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place and consistently applied.
• Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS and interface with external audits
• Manage and help deliver the budget / forecast / strategic plans
• Be able to interpret financial data, draw insights, provide recommendations and support the execution of those plans and delivering the solutions
• Provide day-to-day commercial decision support to maximise financial performance
• Ensure tight cost control

The ideal candidate:
Graduate calibre qualified accountant with circa 2-6 years PQE. Candidates are likely to have benefited from a high level of financial training (for example a CIMA graduate programme, ACA training contract) and possess outstanding communication and leadership skills as well gravitas, credibility and keen commercial acumen.
