INTECHRA ( www.intechra.com ), a division of Arrow Electronics, is seeking a C ommercial Truck Driver with route sales/delivery experience for our metro Chicago market . GENERAL DESCRIPTION (SHORT SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS) Coordinate with dispatch to pick up, transfer, and deploy electronic assets and equipment according to the client manifest (order). Palletize, load, secure for transit, transport, and unload freight in a manner that adheres to all required safety and quality standards. Prepare, receive and remit appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of freight to ensure accurate order tracking, billing, and timely service. Troubleshoot customer delivery-related problems to resolution in real time. Maintain all motor vehicle logs, documentation, and driving standards as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT), federal/state authorities, and the company. Regularly inspect all assigned equipment and hardware and report repair and/or maintenance requests to Dispatch. Maintain vehicle in a clean and fueled state of readiness. Perform other duties as may be assigned. JOB SKILLS AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Good knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the transportation industry, including DOT regulations. Current motor vehicle license as required by the Department of Transportation, federal, and/or state requirements for the type of equipment assigned to driver. Must be at least 21 years old. Must not be disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle as per CFR 391.15 Must have a clear driving record showing no accidents in a thirty month (30) time period and no more than two (2) moving violations in the same time period. Ability to regularly stand, lift, bend, stretch, reach above the head, and kneel during a shift assignment that could last between 8 and 14 hours. Ability to safely use material handling tools and equipment and to push and pull wheeled dollies and/or carts with freight containing up to 100 lbs during a shift assignment that could last between 8 and 14 hours. Ability to safely palletize, load, transfer, and unload pallets and skids (must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds). Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, detail and deadline sensitive environment. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load with attention to detail and prudent time management. Excellent communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) and listening skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to read and follow road maps. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Ability to use and manipulate assigned handheld telephone and dispatching device Ability to sit for extended periods of time. EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or GED plus minimum 3 years of truck driving experience preferably in a route or delivery setting.
