Safety Manager Job in Eminence, Kentucky US

Mid-sized metals manufacturer in Eminence KY has an opening for a Safety Manager.

Job duties include:

Plans, directs, and implements organization safety program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.

 

Directs the implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.  Develop appropriate written guidelines, rules, procedures and educational methods for the control of hazards and the development of a high degree of safety discipline and safety consciousness.

 

Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.  Provide the training necessary to fully develop the correct sense of safety and health accountability among line management and all supervisors, as well as their abilities to carry out their assignments in this important area.  See that all supervisors are adequately trained in safety and health matters and that appropriate training and instruction is provided to all employees by supervision.

 

Prepares studies and analysis of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.

 

Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and sees that all levels of management are appropriately informed and given strong recommendations to ensure proper and timely remedial or preventive action.  Advises management in carrying out their responsibilities in employee safety and health matters.  Informs President of any noncompliance.

 

Measures and evaluates safety performance in all aspects, including individual management performance. This will include periodic written performance evaluations of Management to include documentation of compliance failures.

 

Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.

 

Directs the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organizations use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.  Submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.

 

Accompanies insurance carrier or government inspectors in any inspection related to safety and health at any Company location as requested.

 

Develops all requirements for personal protective equipment, clothing, and footwear and sees that these requirements are carried out.

 

Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.

 

Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.  Works closely with and makes full use of all available services and organizational assistance such as insurance carriers, governmental agencies, and the National Safety Council.

 

Works closely with the Maintenance Department in fire protection, providing assistance in methods and procedures.  Conducts joint or independent inspection related to plant fire fighting equipment and prevention methods.  Develops and implements emergency evacuations plan.

 

Maintains safety files and records.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelors degree in safety and 2 years experience in an industrial environment.
