Safety Manager

A growing construction company is seeking a hands-on Safety Manager to oversee all aspects of safety requirements for the company’s construction projects in general construction and engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee company safety program and ensure compliance with Cal-OSHA regulations, company policy and client requirements in a construction environment
• Responsible for incident and accident investigations
• Work with HR in reporting and investigating accidents; provide root cause analysis on all incidents and accidents
• Ensure all work meets or exceeds the customers’ expectations and is done in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Organize and/or conduct new hire safety training, regular safety meetings, agenda and toolbox training
• Conduct OSHA 10, competent person, first aid, fall protection and other training as necessary
• Maintain yearly permits, job specific permits and form 300/300A reporting
• Perform regular jobsite inspections to identify unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices
• Conduct job hazard analysis for each major phase of work; maintain MSDS
• Maintain PPE and make recommendations for other safety equipment
• Consistently and fairly enforce all company safety rules and impose corrective actions and maintain documentation
• Communicate all new safety compliance to the company
• Responsible for updating the IIPP
• Ensure compliance with equipment maintenance programs and general oversight of the company mechanic

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of construction related safety management experience
• Bachelors Degree in a safety related field or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, able to work and communicate at all levels
• Ability to independently implement, carry out and communicate safety program
• Computer skills in most Microsoft programs
• Working knowledge of OSHA, Cal OSHA, DOT, federal, state and local EHS laws and compliance
• Ability to travel up to 70% throughout southern California; travel locations may vary, depending on future job awards
