Safety, Reliability and Mission Assurance Engineer

Provides Safety, Reliability, and Maintainability (SRM) Engineering support between Wyle Quality, Engineering and NASA/JSC by applying specialized safety, reliability, and maintainability engineering skills to achieve completion of multiple tasks. Assures that hazards and their consequences are identified, evaluated and controlled throughout all phases of the program and that Reliability and Maintainability requirements for the Space Station program are met. Conducts engineering research and development projects of major significance which require the application of engineering knowledge from several different fields. Represents the company and/or customer in outside discussions and technical forums while under the supervision of more seasoned engineer(s). Works under general administrative and close technical supervision. Incumbent will perform other duties and responsibilities as required. ? Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company?s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel ? Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures ? Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company ? Responsible for completing all assigned training ? Plan, develop, and execute safety-related project tasks, including safety assessments, Hazard Analysis, Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) and preparation and updating of RAESRs and Safety Data Packages ? Prepare and conduct Phased Safety Reviews at NASA-chartered safety panels, including Safety Review Planel (SRP), Payload Safety Review Panel (PSRP), and Safety and Mission Assurance Panel (SMAP) ? Plan, develop, and execute reliability-related project tasks, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability and Maintainability Prediction Reports (RMPR), Criticality Assessments, Reliability Test Plans, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Maintenance Plans, Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR), and Limited Life Items Lists (LLIL) ? Prepare and conduct FMEA/CIL reviews at NASA-chartered reliability panels, including RM Working Group and SMAP ? Participate in hardware development/design reviews, including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), System Design Review (SDR), and System Acceptance Review (SAR) ? Provide design, development, fabrication, integration, testing and troubleshooting support throughout project lifecycle ? Learn, assess, and evaluate hardware subsystems; specifically design/performance specifications, interface specifications, operations and procedures, drawings and schematics, failure modes, and related hazards ? Conduct SRM methodologies on projects requiring application of engineering knowledge ? Apply appreciable originality and ingenuity to complete assignments which are extremely broad and/or time-critical in nature ? Identify opportunities for process improvements and make constructive suggestions for alternative technical solutions. Required Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field plus 0 to 2 years of experience.
