Area Overview:
The Safety Soundness Unit of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is looking for commissioned examiners to join our team of bank examiners for our St. Louis, Memphis and Little Rock offices. For candidates lacking an examiner commission, at least five years of successful banking experience serving in leadership/officer positions will be considered at a lower pay schedule.

Job Responsibilities:
Conduct financial institution examinations/inspections in order to:
• Evaluate the soundness of the institution's assets and the effectiveness of its internal operations, policies and management.
• Analyze key financial factors, such as capital, earnings and liquidity.
• Assess the institution's sensitivity to certain risks.
• Check for compliance with banking laws and regulations.
• Periodically review and analyze various reports to gauge the overall soundness of District institutions and identify those that fail certain financial criteria.
Position Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
• Well-developed skills in a specialized area or function of supervision.
• Effective leadership of bank examinations and/or bank holding company inspections.
• Strong interpersonal, team leadership and people management skills.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• Critical thinking skills, including sound judgment, conflict resolution, and the ability to juggle tasks and priorities.
• Strong analytical and technical skills in areas of finance, accounting, business and economics.
• Demonstrated interest in coaching and mentoring peers.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to both act as an enthusiastic team member and to efficiently and effectively lead teams.
Preferred applicants should be a commissioned examiner from a federal or state banking supervisor; however, candidates with extensive commercial banking experience will be considered at a lower pay schedule. For candidates lacking an examiner commission, at least five years of successful banking experience serving in leadership/officer positions is desired.
