SAFETY SYSTEMS SPECIALIST – FLIGHT SAFETY
This position is in the Safety Systems and Compliance Group which is responsible for the airline’s corporate safety management and quality management systems. This position will both challenge and reward you and requires strong safety systems acumen and analytical qualities with a desire to excel in a growing business environment that offers future career progression. The incumbent will be responsible for processing occurrence and incident reports, investigating occurrences and incidents involving flight operational causal factors, facilitating risk assessments involving elements of the flight operations discipline, participating in the accomplishment of the internal audit programme, providing input to hazard surveys, analysing safety data related to flight operations and flight safety, contributing to the safety programme in regard to flight safety, and participating in change management processes.
Key activities of the role:
- Investigate occurrence and incident reports involving flight operational factors
- Develop and maintain the flight safety programme
- Conducting safety investigations and preparing investigation reports
- Providing input to accountable managers on occurrence investigations assigned to departments
- Escalating non-completion of actions by due date to the Manager Safety Systems
- Conducting internal audit modules involving or related to flight operations or flight safety
- Entering audit findings into AQD safety database and analyse flight safety data
- Identifying casual factors for audit and investigation findings related to flight operational safety
- Participation in risk assessments with a specific focus on the flight operations discipline
- In regard to flight operational factors, identifying trends in occurrences, incidents, audit findings, hazards and risk assessments
- Promoting safety via articles in the Safety Systems Group newsletter, on the Intranet, and through briefings and workplace meetings
- Participating in change management processes
- Contribute to the Corporate Emergency Response Plan (CERP) as SME
- Conduct staff training on safety management and quality management systems Requirements:
- Accident Investigator qualification to ICAO standards
- Lead Auditor qualified to ISO9001:2000 or later standard
- Formal training in integrated Safety Management Systems preferred
- Flight Operations qualification; flight crew licence
- At least 10 yrs experience in flight operations role
The successful candidate will have extensive experience across the aviation industry, excellent communication and computer skills, and a demonstrated ability to analyse technical information. This position is based at Jacksons Airport, Port Moresby and a competitive salary is on offer for the successful candidate. An option is available for the prospective candidate to commute on a weekly basis from Cairns to Port Moresby
