The Sales Audit Accountant is responsible for moderately complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger. Responsible for all aspects of accounting for the company's sales transactions (ie: cash, credit cards, gift cards) and its related banking activity including monthly journal entries, reconciliations and analysis. Duties include:
1. Ensure accurate and timely recording of all sales transactions and related bank activity. 2. Research and resolve store and bank transaction issues. 3. Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, credit-related accounts, and gift cards/certificates. 4. Conduct fraud research and report findings to operations and loss prevention. 5. Assist in resolving issues with store cash, credit/debit card and gift card charges. 6. Perform various month-end functions including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. 7. Prepare various reports and/or provide data and information as needed to others, including: Inventory Control, Treasury, Marketing, Finance, and Senior Management. Compile budget and forecast for cash loss, credit card fees, and bad check expense. 8. Analyze current work processes and suggest changes to improve processing efficiencies. 9. Maintain strong internal controls
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- One to three years accounting or related experience preferred
- Intermediate/Advanced PC Skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and data mining tools
- G/L experience
- Knowledge/Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Attention to detail
