Sales Consultant / Interior Designer
Position Overview
Custom Decorators, Inc. has an immediate opportunity for an experienced, energetic and talented Design and Sales Consultant.
We are looking for an individual that has proven sales success in the retail or home furnishings industry coupled with a strong sense of style, home décor and a passion for design. We are seeking a designer who can combine creative capabilities with sales talent to provide decorating solutions to clients.
The ideal candidate would possess:
- An entrepreneurial attitude and approach to selling
- Must possess basic computing skills including Word, Email usage and Internet searching techniques
- Strong communication, organizational and influence skills
- A broad knowledge of current home décor and style is required
- A detailed knowledge of Hunter Douglas window fashions and drapery or premium carpet is preferred
- Ability to represent our unique retail channel partners and their exclusive product offerings. Channels include; Leaders in wholesale, home improvement and high-end retailing
- Minimum of 2 years sales experience
Essential Functions
Design Abilities
- Measuring skills relating to window coverings, draperies, and or carpet
- Working knowledge of custom furnishings including window treatments and carpet
- Knowledge of design principles
Sales Technique and Experience
- Must be self motivated, and goal oriented with a drive for success
- Must possess strong sales skills including the understanding and management of the sales process, from prospecting to closing and after-sale follow-up
- Proven ability to build a strong client base to generate additional leads resulting in an increase of company sales and designer commissions
Compensation and Working Conditions
- Commissions and special promotional incentives (spiffs)
- Mileage reimbursement for travel outside normal service areas
- Travel between client homes, partner retailer locations and home office
- We provide on-boarding, webinars, support from our vendors – Hunter Douglas, Shaw, Mohawk, and various drapery vendors
- Annual Sales/Design Convention – meet other designers and vendors
