Description:Design Group Staffing has been contracted by an established company to identify, evaluate and place a Director of Sales who will stand out amongst their peers and who is seeking career growth opportunities
DIRECTOR, SALES
This position is responsible for developing and executing the sales strategy and global support, as the mining industry expert and diesel power plant sales representative. The incumbent of this role will be accountable for developing sales leads and providing power plant design expertise to consultants in the mining industry, for the purpose of generating additional business for. This position reports to the Vice President (VP) of Sales and the World Wide Organization (WWO), Managing Director.
The role includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate and participate in technical and commercial (terms conditions), tender preparation and evaluations
- Act as the company liaison and subject matter expert to mining consultants seeking expertise in diesel power plant development
- Primary internal contact from initial contact with potential customer until the contract is signed, fully supported by Tendering, Engineering, Procurement and Project departments
- Lead negotiations within predetermined parameters
- Oversee and follow-up on projects developed in their regions and ensure that they live up to the quality standards
- Increase market share in existing markets and maximize new business development opportunities
- Participate in various trade conferences (e.g. global mining and power plant conferences) to network with industry leaders and prospect possible business opportunities
- Build customer relationships from prospecting to closing; analyze their needs and provide value-added solutions by delivering effective sales presentations, plant design specifications and any future needs analysis
- Sales target - approximately $100 million dollars per annum
- Develop and manage sales budgets
- Maintain reports and database records of customer contacts, activities, transactions and ensure customer inquiries, orders and complaints are promptly and satisfactorily handled
- Develop own competence of product portfolio
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Sales executive with 10-15 years of related experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of the global mining industry
- 5-10 years of experience in power plants, preferably powered by diesel engines
- Demonstrated sales success in the engineering services industry
- Engineering degree or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to interact within a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to develop and retain key business, consultant and customer relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Speaking ability in French and/or Spanish an asset.
- Extensive travel, internationally, 50-75% of the time
