Sales Engineer Job in Bakersfield, California Us

 

Preferred Education:  BS Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical.  Other 4 year technical degrees will be considered. 

 

 

Overview:  This position involves direct problem solving type selling to end user industrial customers as well as support for our international agents and representatives.  This is not a cold calling phone sales position and is part of a team of experienced professionals.  Customers come to us with problems for us to solve.  This person will enjoy the excitement of helping customers solve those problems with our products and our team expertise with the associated rewards for performance.  We are seeking candidates who have attention to detail, ability to communicate and a desire to accomplish.

 

Who we are:  We are a unique company for the Fresno area who provide hydrocarbon-in-water monitors for pollution and process control worldwide.   We are in the command position in the market with more than 17 years in the business.  Our markets include drinking water to oilfield wastewater, ships to power plants.  With agents in more than 35 countries 70% of our sales are international.  We provide excellent insurance coverage for our employees including health, dental, life, and vision.  We also offer a 401 (k) plan with a company match.

 

 

 

·         We are seeking a self starting sales engineer who enjoys solving customer problems with our unique products and services.  Experience with complex proposal writing is a plus.  Experience in selling technical products is a plus but not necessary. 

 

Details of the Job:

 

·         Early on training will involve work in Manufacturing and Engineering and field trips with our Field Service Engineers to better understand the application of our technology.

·         You will be trained to answer inquires via e-mail and phone with technical solutions that include the application of our instruments to solve customer problems. 

·         You will support our international sales agents with product quotations and technical advice based on your training. 

·         You will participate in technical trade shows with our sales team.

·         You will eventually be able to demonstrate our equipment to technical customers and assist in training of our agents during our yearly dealer training seminars. 

·         After training, you will prepare quotations and proposals based on your training and the customer’s needs. 

·         Understanding of industrial wastewater treatment and separation processes is a plus.

·         Understanding of industrial or oilfield pollution prevention and treatment systems is also a plus. 

·         A high skill level of English writing and speaking is required. 

·         Must be physically fit for travel to include customer visits, trade shows, and some field work to support the selling activity.

 

Required Basic Proficiencies

 

·         MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, basic math skills, familiar with data base function and utility and basic internet / search engine understanding.

·         Detail oriented, must be able to write in business English, proof read, and spell at business level.  

·         Basic understanding of Technical Sales and its function in business. 

·         Must be precision minded and able to follow complex instructions with little or no additional input.

·         Must be able to handle multiple tasks. 

·         Must have excellent English speaking and writing skills, able to communicate detailed information both verbally and in writing to English speaking adults and foreign agents with English as a second language. 

·         Foreign language skills are a plus.

·         Must maintain traditional business appearance.
