SALES MANAGER – AUTOMOTIVE SUPPLIER

I’m currently helping a well-respected, global Tier 1 automotive supplier find a top-notch Sales Manager for their Metro Detroit location.
We’re looking for a person with the right education, experience and attitude. Someone who takes pride of ownership in their work.
Someone who can develop and execute sales strategies and programs for assigned accounts, while identifying and adapting to customer issues and market trends.
SCOPE OF THE POSITION
· Maintain, manage, and grow business for assigned accounts
· Manage program and product launches
· Serve as liaison between customers, suppliers, and factories throughout product lifecycle for issues re: product pricing, quality, design, and delivery
· Review commercial requirements for RFQs; develop quotes, based on program costs
· Negotiate sales contracts with customers and suppliers; resolve contract issues
· Coordinate with engineering to ensure technical requirements are satisfied
· Negotiate contracts with suppliers; manage supply chain partners throughout program lifecycle
· Provide over-all support to cross-functional teams
· Analyze customer sales forecasts and overall market to identify business trends
· Prepare and revise sales budgets for existing accounts and provide forecasts to management
· Report on customer contacts, market trends, and new business opportunities
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED:
· Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
· 3-7 years but not more than 10 years of sales experience or customer interface
· Experience overseeing programs from start to finish
· Experience with powertrain or drivetrain components
· High level of business integrity
· Comfortable speaking in front of groups
PREFERRED:
· Basic engineering knowledge
· Experience with business concepts, including finance, procurement, margin, currency exchange, supply-chain management, and cash flow
· Experience with trading, including invoicing, shipping, importing, and inventory
