About our Life Sciences business: Life Sciences delivers breakthroughs in drug discovery, biopharmaceutical manufacturing and the latest in cellular technologies, so scientists and specialists around the world discover new ways to predict, diagnose and treat disease earlier. The Life Sciences business also makes systems and equipment for the purification of biopharmaceuticals.

Role Summary/Purpose

In this role, the BioProcess Sales Manager will be responsible for the BioProcess business in the Region East (Switzerland, Austria and Italy) and managing the activities of the relevant commercial team (Account Managers and Specialists). Also, this position is responsible for attaining sales objectives, as well as profit costs targets for the Region East, managing the direct sale of the organization’s products in this country, in order to meet company corporate objectives.

Essential Responsibilities

• Directly managing Account Managers Specialists (SDMs) in Switzerland, Austria Italy for the Bioprocess business, reporting to the General Manager BioProcess Europe
• Manages a team of ca. 10 direct reports (Account Managers, Sales Specialists (SDMs) and/or Sales support resources)
• Select, train, and develop personnel to optimize effectiveness
• Developing and implementing sales strategies to drive maximize organic growth in the BioProcess market (e.g. Upstream Downstream)
• Cultivating and leveraging customer relationships at the executive level to maximize customer share
• Development of long-term customer relationships through the ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities that immediately satisfy customer needs
• As a member of the Senior Leadership BioProcess team ensuring seamless teamwork with the Service and other channels of the Life Sciences organization to provide total customer satisfaction
• Deploying resources to meet financial / operating objectives including orders, revenue, contribution margin, and base cost control
• Manage personally major contract negotiations and renewals, in accordance with country and regional marketing policies
• Develop a sales and profit plan, including sales activity, for key accounts with planned objectives to achieve and exceed sales turnover and financial return targets by the most cost-effective route
• Ensure all direct reports have approved annual Goals Objectives and receive an annual performance appraisal based on these goals objectives
• Monitor the activity and achievement of the relevant commercial team, adjusting performance towards planned goals via a performance review process
• Closely monitor potential business opportunities, competitor activity, and product development in the territory to value and expand the GEHC BioProcess product/service range offered to key accounts in particular
• Prepare regular business reviews for the BioProcess Leadership team, to ensure a constant information flow between the territory and the company, to make visible results from specific efforts, and actions required to meet customer needs, and business goals
• Accurately forecast sales and growth opportunities within designated territory, using sales tools and applications
• Prepare SII input for review with the GM Bioprocess Europe for relevant territory
• Responsible for disciplinary personnel decisions in conjunction with Human Resources Legal as appropriate.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education - University level degree in Life Sciences related discipline, and possibly MBA or PhD level• Minimum of 8 years of consultative sales experience including strategic selling and negotiation• Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as a part of a solution-based sales process• Advanced background/training in and understanding of Life Sciences BioProcess products• Strong communication skills to synthesize complex issues and communicate into simple messages• Excellent interpersonal skills including, team-working skills and good communication skills• A proven track-record of achieving and exceeding targets, and a desire to grow new business • Willingness and ability to travel within the specified geographic region• To the extent you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a GE owned/leased, privately owned/leased or rental vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record.
