Rail Transit and Locomotive Sales Manager

 

USSC Group is focused on providing survivability and mobility solutions to the commercial and military transportation markets. The Group consists of different companies broken into 5 segments -seating, fire suppression, service and testing, vehicle manufacturing and adventure tourism.

The Rail Transit and Locomotive (RTL) Sales Manager is responsible for all new and existing seating contracts for the Rail Transit Locomotive markets. Additionally, the RTL Sales Manager is responsible for outside sales including, but not limited to, making sales calls on customers in the Rail Transit Locomotive markets. The RTL Sales Manager will be working with inside sales and project management to enhance the customers’ experience on their OEM, Aftermarket and Parts purchases. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1.       Outside Sales Support

 

This will involve direct sales calls to customers within the Locomotive Rail Transit Markets. Driving continued and additional sales of USSC products will be critical, as will the following sales functions:

·         Calling on new sales leads existing customers

·         Assisting customers with general product knowledge and information

·         Attending Trade Shows and Conferences

·         Visiting OEM’s and Customer facilities as needed

·         Supporting Design Reviews at customers as needed

 

2.       Inside Sales Support

 

This will involve sales support for customer and salespeople inquiries including but not limited to:

·         Answering customer questions and responding to requests for information

·         Informing Management of customer inquiries, quotes orders

·         Developing the support role to understand the Locomotive Rail Transit markets

·         Review operations group procedures deliverables for compliance with customer requirements

·         Reviewing production schedules versus customer requirements

·         Visiting OEM’s and Customer facilities as needed

·         Other duties as assigned

  

Education:       Business, Technical or Engineering Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience

 

Experience: 

·         5 to 10 years of proven sales experience with demonstrated ability to manage and support the customer’s requirements utilizing proper sales techniques

·         Experience with fabrication and manufacturing methods is required

·         Knowledge of contract administration and federal regulations as related to locomotive and rail vehicle manufacturing is highly desirable, as is additional experience and/or knowledge of the customer base in the Rail Transit Locomotive Markets

 

 

Skills:    

·         Ability to lead meetings both internal and external

·         Ability to compile information in reports and provide strategic decision making

·         Ability to read understand blueprints, technical drawings and manuals.

·         Produce error-free copy (spelling, punctuation, grammar)

·         Must be at least an intermediate user in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

·         ERP system experience a plus

 

Travel Requirements:              Travel up to 80% of the work time, weekend travel may be necessary

 

 Other:

·         Must be an excellent communicator

·         Must be able to balance multiple projects, tasks and priorities.

·         Motivated self-starter

·         Ability to respond and adapt to change favorably and quickly

·         Ability to carry out assigned projects with minimal supervision

             

Physical Demands:  Requires light lifting of component parts and prototype assemblies. The use of pneumatic, electrical and mechanical tools may be required for visits to customer facilities.
