Sales Representative
We are currently seeking a Route Sales Representative (RSR). This position reports to a District Sales Manager (DSM) and the primary role of the RSR is to sell, order (using hand-held computers), merchandise and promote Hostess Brands products. Our RSRs typically make sales calls in a 24-foot 'box' truck on a designated route with established accounts, work 10-12 hours a day, making multiple stops per day at grocery stores, convenience stores, mass merchants (Walmart, etc.), dollar stores, and restaurants. The typical work day is variable but always requires an early start (3:00 AM or earlier), and will include pushing and pulling large racks of product on wheels when loading and unloading product. This position will have daily interaction with retail customers such as store owners, store managers, department managers, and receiving clerks in the back of the stores. The RSRs are responsible for increasing sales by providing great customer service, and selling-in additional in-gondola or perimeter displays of Hostess Brands products.
** Working Schedule - Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday. Split days off - Wednesday/Sunday. Early morning start times. **
PRINCIPAL ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop all assigned accounts relative to sales volume, market share, product distribution, space allocation, and customer service
- Provide excellent service to assigned accounts; create and maintain goodwill with all customers
- Identify opportunities consistent with the objectives, priorities and strategies of assigned customers
- Utilize point-of-purchase (POS) materials to stimulate sales
- Manage/own the inventory to minimize out of code product and place orders (via Hand-held) for next day delivery
- Merchandise product sections, maintain and increase shelf facings, clean shelving and rotate product
- Safely drive and unload the truck, and move the product to the appropriate locations
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Documentation of a high school diploma or completed GED
- 21 years or older
- Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record
- Pass the drug test
- Pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
- Pass the background check
- Ability to drive standard/manual transmission (most trucks do not have automatic transmissions)
- Ability to load and unload a 50-100 pound rack of product, push and pull it up concrete/metal ramps through the back offices and aisles in our customer’s stores
- Willing to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions including heavy rains, winter snow, and summer heat, while moving heavy racks of product to/from the truck to the store
- Working Saturdays, this position is off on Wednesdays and Sundays
