Be a part of the Field Sales team who is responsible for conducting sales activities, generating customer interest, and closing projects in National Grid’s various energy services programs.  These programs include electric and gas energy efficiency as well as gas growth opportunities which support the achievement of revenue and energy saving targets for the company.

In this role you will follow up on leads, work with current and prospective customers to explain and promote these National Grid programs for the purpose of creating interest, generating, and closing sales.

Other responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

·         Produce effective management information and reporting in order to provide insight on customers for more senior team members.

·         Work with other business units in order to support the implementation of National Grid sales plans and initiatives.

·         Independently collate and analyze sales data using pre-determined tools, methods, and formats in order to understand current sales performance against targets and improve where needed.

·         Monitor and review financial / sales activity information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information.

·         Build upon professional skills in the area of sales and keep up to date with developments in National Grid’s products / services in order to continually grow personal contribution to the business.

·         Be a coordinator of ideas and functions to be brought forth for customer utilization

·         Generate independent sales appointments and opportunities with assigned targets.

·         Develop and execute sales plans, in line with National Grid overall business objectives, in order to increase opportunities with new and existing customers.

·         Develop and maintain effective relationships with other business units in order to identify sales opportunities, share best practices, and understand and challenge business decisions.

·         Research primary data sources and select relevant information in order to enable analysis of sales opportunities and trends in the energy industry.

·         Utilize established financial / sales tracking systems to track performance against budgets and highlight variances in order to manage and control specific cost variables.

·         Keep up to date with market developments in the energy industry in order to ensure the optimization of best practice for National Grid.

 

 

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, engineering or other related discipline or equivalent work experience and 3+ years of related work experience.

·         Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to apply consultation procedures and negotiation skills using visual aids, data, or information to support line of reasoning.

·         Demonstrates a consistent approach in dealing with people and taking personal responsibility for addressing problems and concerns.

·         Experience of fact finding including knowledge and understanding of where to find and how to present relevant information. Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness and has the ability to investigate the situation beyond routine questioning.

·         Makes self fully available for the customer, especially when they are going through a critical period.

·         Understands the importance of procedures and standards of working and demonstrates the ability to give directions or demonstrations with clear reasons and rationales.

·         Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation in order to clearly articulate the findings and anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps.
