Sales Strategy – Platform
The Sales Strategy Director role is similar to Sales Strategy/Operations roles in traditional technology companies - a hybrid of strategic planning, sales optimization, and finance.� �However, in addition to the core operations, the successful candidate will also bring strategic vision to the business, akin to what a management consultant or experienced sales executive might bring.�
Strategic deliverables take the form of recommendations on sales coverage, market segmentation, market expansion, business planning, and investment prioritization. Operationally, the focus will be on forecasting, tracking of business performance, analysis of trends, and formulation of meaningful actionable recommendations. The successful candidate will work closely with senior executives and facilitate discussions for planning and change initiatives.
The right individual will apply his/her experience to influence the strategic direction and execution of our Platform business. She/he will work closely as a thought partner to the CEO of the business unit, the SVP of Operations, and the Head of Sales to lead strategic initiatives, evaluate business opportunities, research new markets, build financial models, and craft concise, data-driven recommendations for an executive audience.
Responsibilities:
- Gather market intelligence and develop strategies to grow our business in new countries and market segments
- Analyze the health of the business and present recommendations to senior management for strategic decision making and investment
- Design and implement the sales coverage model
- Constantly seek opportunities to improve sales efficiency and effectiveness
- Play a lead role in the annual and long range sales planning process
- Work cross-functionally deliver on aggressive growth expectations
- Design and interpret key performance metrics, and craft plans to address pronounced weakness
Required Skills/Experience:
- 10+ years of work experience in sales operations or equivalent function with significant exposure to sales teams, OR significant experience in management consulting, preferably with some engagements that provided exposure to sales and operations
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to structure complex problems, develop hypotheses, and present well-supported solutions
- Experienced directly and indirectly managing high potential individuals
- Strong bias for action
- Must be assertive and comfortable engaging in healthy debate with senior leaders across functions
- BS/BA required; MBA a plus, but not required
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Experience in the enterprise software space strongly preferred
- Exceptional oral, written and formal presentation skills
- Flexibility and ability to adjust on the fly to new demands; sense of urgency
