Sales Support Engineer
Job Description
Provide technical support for in-house sales personnel, manufacturer representatives and train sales personnel, distributors and installers as required. Assignment will require 50% travel, 25% quality control testing activity and 25% devoted to e-mail and telephone customer support activity.
Qualifications
A minimum of a two year associate or a four-year bachelor of engineering degree in subject matter relevant to computer networking and audio/video signal distribution in commercial and residential applications. Industry accreditation through BICSI, CEDIA or other accredited training organization is a plus. Strong background in organizing and presenting technical presentations is a must.
Attributes
Must be organized and used to compiling technical information, recording information from technical support calls and tabulating QC test results to provide on-going quality metrics. Need to also be technically proficient to design appropriate test set-ups in the lab, developing written test procedures and data sheets and able to replicate customer issues in the lab to arrive with a solution.
Other
Be able to understand and solve technical problems in field installations. Helpful if applicant has some installation experience with electronics used for data, audio, and/or video applications and is current on latest industry developments. Scientific curiosity is needed together with strong problem solving skills.
Location
The primary job location is in a suburb of Chicago and the successful applicant will need to reside within a short commuting distance of our facility and be relatively close to Midway and O’Hare airports to facilitate travel in the US and Canada.
