Sales Training Manager
About the Job
We have been engaged by our client to recruit for their Sales Training Manager position based in Minneapolis,MN. Our client is a leading worldwide medical device company. This position is responsible for the implementation and effective development within the field sales organization. The focus will be on driving new hire trainings and developing and implementing the sales methodology. This individual will act as a liaison between the Sales Training department and the Field Leadership, Marketing, and other departments in the organization to drive common language and methodology.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the direction from the Sales Training Director to provide training and direction to the department for the Sales Continuum in order to foster consistency of messages.
- Focus primarily on ownership for the New Hire Training and Sales Methodology
- Participate and work with all geographic partners to provide consistency and alignment with technical and selling programs.
- Provide leadership for the development and implementation of coaching processes, tools, and measures to reinforce the sales continuum, both in focus areas and other development areas within the Sales Training area.
- Provide leadership in the design, development, and sourcing of courseware to support implementation of the sales continuum.
- Presents sales training materials as needed for the sales training programs, product launches, and management meetings.
- Act as a project manager with field leadership to develop communications for field sales programs, coaching guidelines, and field leadership training expectations.
- In collaboration with the sales consultants, design and implement an evaluation to assess the effectiveness and adoption of the sales training continuum.
- Spend time out in the field to ensure consistency of program implementations, understanding training needs, attending meetings, driving sales methodology, and meeting other needs.
- Continually monitor success of class trainings and metrics and provide reports to leadership as needed.
- Recruit, hire, train, lead and motivate sales training team personnel to achieve results and create consistent standards/practices.
- Provide direction to the field sales trainers on programs, consistency of in-house and field training, and providing appropriate feedback on improvements to the trainer.
- Stay up to date with knowledge of training and development research; learning theory, motivation and new materials, methods, and techniques and incorporate this knowledge into the training organization.
- In collaboration with HR and the Regional Managers, identify appropriate development opportunities for individuals within the field organization.
- Travel up to 30% of the time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, MBA or Master's Degree preferred
- 7+ years in training and/or curriculum design
- Sales training experience with a demonstrated ability to drive and execute a plan to success
- 3+ years of people management experience
- 30% travel
- Proven track record of hiring, managing, coaching and developing high performance teams
- Management experience with vendors, i.e. Training and consultants to develop training curriculum.
- Strong leadership skills and a proven track record of results in medical sales and/or marketing, leadership and training
- Ability to incorporate adult learning styles and curriculum design theory into developed and creating programs.
