Satellite Systems Engineer

Looking for a Systems Design Engineer with a minimum of 10 years experience in systems design, documentation, installation, and testing of digital and analog communications systems using radio and satellite transmission media. The candidate will provide guidance in mission needs assessment, operations concepts, requirements definition, requirements analysis, systems design and engineering support throughout system and network design, development, implementation and testing for approved programs/projects. He/She will recommend innovations, designs, design improvements, and equipment replacement as needed to meet customer needs and improve mission operations and availability; reviews problem reports and participates in root cause analyses and quality reviews; must be able to work within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to design new systems and upgrade existing communications systems and to meet requirements for future sustainability. Systems and subsystems include both secure and non-secure voice, data, and message user terminals, facsimile, type 1 encryptors, switches, modems, routers, computers and both ground-to-air-to-ground and satellite communications. Maintains an extensive knowledge of C4ISR architectures and concepts. Maintains familiarity with QA, CM, and test practices/tools. Ensures requirements traceability. Designs and leads trade studies for concept development, product evaluation, and design decision-making. Provides technical support for the planning and scheduling of program tasks. Documents designs in appropriate drawings and plans. Provides technical expertise to support certification and accreditation (CA) requirements. The primary existing Northstar network is made up of digital and analog communications systems that use radio and satellite transmission media. Responsibilities will include Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) development and documentation of systems/subsystems that support the Northstar Network. Will also be responsible for the delivery of projects with a focus on the evaluation of new products and enhancing networking infrastructures. Other duties will include: Identifying opportunities or problems within existing and new technologies, Providing specialist support to Product Management/Business Development in new technology service definition,- Defining, developing and documenting processes and operating procedures involving technology component, Providing Tier 2nd/3rd level support, as required for existing networks/communications equipment and assist in the installation of communications systems, analyze equipment configurations and faults, and provide technical assistance to on-site personnel. Job will require occassional travel.

Minimum of a BS in one or more engineering or science disciplines. Minimum of 10 years experience in an integrative engineering discipline, such as systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or industrial engineering. Experinece with LAN/WAN/MAN networks including: MPLS, Routing Protocols, TCP/IP, VPNs, VoIP, Applications, Optical Networks, Wireless-Mobility, Security, Video, Hosting. Must have CCNA certification. .Demonstrable experience of complex routing and switching topologies.Extensive experience in network architecture and design.Solid Cisco product and configuration experience.Must be able to "multi-task" between variety of IT projects and initiatives, track and prioritize them.

A CCDP or CCNP certification would be beneficial. Familiarity with ATT Product Support would also be beneficial is desired.

Requires ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance, must have a minimum of secret clearance to start.
