SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
:

Under direction of the SCADA Supervisor, the incumbent will install, repair, replace, and/or test electrical SCADA system components as required to maintain full system functionality.  Components include but are not limited to meters, trip units, communications devices, wiring, remote terminal units (RTUs), a variety RTU input sensors, electric switches, electronic switches, network hardware, UPS units, and other system appurtenances.  He/she shall assist with the development and implementation of automation strategies through activities such as feasibility studies, engineering survey support, electrical code guidance, programming logic review, PID development, and SCADA testing/commissioning.  The incumbent will recommend system upgrades or changes based on observed system performance, repairs, and maintenance activities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES JOB FUNCTIONS:

·         Installs, repairs, and maintains electrical infrastructure and devices as required in support of the SCADA electrical systems and operations.

·         Installs, repairs, and maintains RTU sensor input devices such as but not limited to current transmitters, voltage meters, switches, indicators, and trip units.

·         Installs, repairs, and maintains SCADA RTU devices.

·         Installs, repairs, and maintains HMI (human machine interface) hardware.  Installation includes installing all power systems and communications hardware for full functionality.

·         Installs, repairs, and maintains local UPS units supporting the SCADA system devices.

·         Works directly with OEM equipment vendors, representatives, and technical experts as required to repair, replace, upgrade, and commission new SCADA equipment.

·         Provides technical support related to the SCADA systems, including responding to complex customer and vendor inquiries, troubleshooting efforts/projects and root-cause analysis.  

·         Develop, review, update and implement changes to SCADA system documentation, work instructions, technical customer communications and testing methods.

·         Provides logic input for SCADA programming upgrades and changes.

·         Performs complex root-cause analysis, develop, test and implement technical resolution.

·         Installs interior and exterior wiring for equipment and specialized circuitry for SCADA equipment.

·         Reviews and develops PID diagrams, including ladder logic.

·         Under the direction of a programmer or engineer, assists with programming SCADA system devices.

·         Sets project priorities and reviews completed work as needed to ensure work is completed in a timely manner and to standards.

·         Stays abreast of technical advances in SCADA technology.

·         Interacts with the customer’s technical and management team.

·         Establishes and maintains relationships and make active contribution to technical issues and discussions.

·         Operates all electrical and electronic test equipment, including meggers, ammeters, voltmeters, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, calibrators and signal generators.

·         Performs preventative maintenance using current technology including software-based diagnostic systems.

·         Performs troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and calibration of process and analytical instrumentation.

·         Assists with staff reports and other periodic reports.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

MANDATORY: 

·         High school graduate or equivalent.

·         At least two (2) years or equivalent experience in installation and maintenance of servers, networks and PLCs, RTUs, communication processors, meters, HMIs, and protection relaying.

·         At least two (2) years of experience installing communications raceways, connections, terminations, and devices.  Experience to including both copper and fiber optic cable.

·         An active state Master’s Electrician license or legally inactive license with no “business” affiliation associated with the license itself.

·         Ability to independently and accurately troubleshoot and repair electrical SCADA system deficiencies.

·         Working knowledge of computer hardware components and operation (routing, switching and Microsoft operating systems) as used in SCADA environment.

·         Basic understanding of SCADA system setup and maintenance with regard to administration, programming, database administration, telemetry, and RTU input management.

·         Understand, interpret and articulate complex issues and understand how changes made to SCADA hardware may impact functionality.

·         Demonstrated experience with networking, power systems, and digital control systems.

·         Demonstrated experience with developing and using PIDs to document system architecture and troubleshoot deficiencies.

·         Must be able to operate all office equipment including but not limited to: telephones, copy machines, fax machines, printers, and computers

·         Good working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

·         Must demonstrate good ethics and sound character.

·         U.S. citizen

·         Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) level clearance, after hire.

·         Must have a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

·         Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

·         Must have excellent organizational skills.

·         Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.

·         Mature judgment and ability to work with little to no supervision.

·         Light travel required.

·         Ability to independently lift 50 lbs - 75 lbs as team lift.

·         Ability to pass a pre-hire background and drug screen.

 

PREFERRED:

·         (4) four year Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent field.

·         Working knowledge of OEM, Harris, systems and equipment.

·         Working knowledge of OEM, CISCO, systems and equipment.
