A Principal Project Manager/ Business Analyst works with users and members of the Information Technology organization. This person will also act as project manager for a SCADA deployment and will be responsible for managing and coordinating the related custom software development, software package installation, networking, and infrastructure (hardware) deployment. This person is responsible for understanding users business needs, capturing users domain expertise, and accurately translating this expertise into succinct requirements documents that will serve as input to SCADA team members.
Required Skills:
Education
Candidates have typically obtained a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field - or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Business
- Highly motivated self-starter with an ability to proactively communicate issues, status, questions, and knowledge
- Over 10 years experience in IT analysis, management, and/or development
- Self-sufficient and able to meet deadlines with limited supervision
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability of tasks
- Strong knowledge of Power industry
- Knowledge of Energy/Generation Management Systems preferred
- Knowledge of NERC CIP processes preferred
- Proven ability to understand a customers business and regulatory environments and processes
- Proven ability to document business requirements in an accurate, unambiguous and succinct fashion
- A creative, innovative approach to problem solving is fundamental
- Have an understanding and ability to evaluate the business implications of system development and maintenance issues
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills
- Have analytical problem solving skills
Development and Technology
- Desire and aptitude to learn and understand new and emerging technologies
- Must have advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
- Competency in Visio or other process diagramming tools desired
- Competency in modern client DBMS tools desired
- Experience in and ability to deliver solutions based on modern, web-based distributed architectures
- Knowledge of relational database designs and implementations
- Experience in and ability to deliver solutions based on SOA
- Experience in generation control systems and related power plant operations and networking for control. Plant control communications technology familiarity (i.e. ICCP). Fundamentals of plant control and RTU connectivity/protocols.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Infrastructure fundamentals and design physical servers, firewalls, networking, backup processes, Microsoft server systems, etc
Project Management
- Manage projects to successful completion
- Ability to work with minimal direction on multiple projects
- The ability to work independently or on a team and exhibiting excellent multi-tasking skills
- Ability to assume a leadership role in projects supervise, mentor and train less experienced IT personnel
- Ability to complete work within assigned deadlines
- Ability to provide reliable and informative project status to supervisors and clients
- Experience in supervision of projects as well use of technologies presently deployed within the area of responsibility
- Experience in supporting a 7 X 24 hour environment
- Willing to travel to fulfill business requirements
- Demonstrates strong ability to successfully implement and test systems
- Ability to manage time and work well under pressure
