Hunter Valley Operations is one of the largest multi-seam open cut mining operations in Australia. With four pits spanning more than 22 kilometres, the operation offers fantastic opportunities in areas such as Dragline Drill and Blast, Mining Support, Overburden and Coal and Partings. Hunter Valley Operations in located in the Hunter Valley region, less than two hours drive from the coastal city of Newcastle. Hunter Valley Operations currently has a position available for a Scheduling Engineer reporting to the Senior Forecasting Engineer in their Technical Services Department. This department is responsible for the planning scheduling of mining operations from a daily to 5 year timeframe and comprises Geology, Short and Medium Term Planning teams. Within the Mid Term planning team there is the forecast, design and strategic teams.
 
In this role you will be tasked with reviewing equipment time usage based on RT time definition and optimising the mine schedule over the 5 months to 5.5 year period for each quarterly forecast.  Additionally you will champion the smooth transition from short -mid and mid-long term schedules as well as ensuring a high quality schedule with repeatability and the delivery of valuable outputs to management.
 
As the successful candidate you will possess the following skills/experience:

  • A Mining Engineering degree coupled with previous experience in scheduling large operations. 
  • Experience in options analysis together with a strong analytical and problem solving ability
  • Advanced skills in Excel together with XPAC experience is required for this role
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills coupled with strong organisational skills will be required to successfully carry out this role.
