The Neuroscience team is devoted to developing novel therapeutics for the treatment of CNS disorders. We are currently seeking a Scientist to conduct research into novel drug delivery strategies for CNS drugs. The Scientist will be an expert in the use of a variety of biochemical assays, imaging techniques and analytical methods to study drug distribution within the CNS. The Scientist will also be involved in the assessment of target engagement in the brain using biophysical or biochemical readouts. The Scientist will be an active participant in a dynamic drug discovery environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the JJ Biotechnology Center of Excellence and ADME scientists and will be encouraged to present findings at internal and external scientific meetings.

Qualifications

The qualified candidate should have completed a Ph.D. and postdoctoral fellowship in biochemistry, pharmacology, neuroscience or a related discipline and have relevant high impact publications. The candidate will be experienced in the design, conduct and interpretation of in-vitro and in-vivo assays to study distribution and target engagement of novel CNS drug candidates. In vivo assay experience is required for this role; in vitro experience is highly desired. This position is a bench based role. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with scientists in other groups at JJ and hence the successful applicant will possess strong people skills and the ability to thrive in a team and goal driven environment. Preferably, the candidate will be experienced working with large molecules such as antibodies and peptides, and have an understanding of transport mechanisms across the blood brain barrier. A working knowledge of various target classes such as GPCRs, ion channels, cytokines or neurotrophic factors would also be an advantage. This position is located in La Jolla, CA.
