Role: Digital Transformation ScrumMaster

Location: 125 Shaftesbury Avenue
 
Digital Banking's vision is to be a pioneer in digital relationship
banking recognised as the best in Europe in the way digital
technologies are used to service our customers across Channels -
Internet, SMS and mobile. Creating customer recommendation whilst
removing more cost from the organisation and generating more income
right across the Group, including Community and Telephone
Banking.
 
The holder will drive delivery within teams at various stages of
maturity within the Digital Transformation programme.
 
As a ScrumMaster you will be expected to put in place and maintain
the ceremonies that support Scrum; assist with planning (including
backlog management, user stories etc.), facilitating
retrospectives, keeping Sprints on track, communicating frequently
and widely on team matters, and most importantly, both support the
team to overcome impediments and also take responsibility for
resolving impediments to enable the team to deliver more
effectively.
 
At times you will be directly part of a cross-functional team
(BA's, developers, testers) in an initiative, and at other times
supporting multiple teams at a higher level.
 
The job will be executed through leading by example and guidance;
The holder will
facilitate and contribute to defining, specific work items relating
to the introduction of best practices, the changing of behaviours,
definition and use of appropriate tooling, and other areas required
to achieve the above stated goals.
 
Candidates will be required to demonstrate direct involvement and
significant contribution to a transformation of a software
engineering organisation to agile/lean development and delivery
processes and practices.
 
A track record of the required experience demonstrated on a real
production platform or system is a must, as are a "can-do"
attitude, capability of bootstrapping workstreams and projects, and
ability to effectively work with multi-disciplinary, internal and
external distributed teams across the project lifecycle.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
1. Accountable for the execution of work items agreed with
business or technical stakeholders and management, supporting
current business needs whilst also contributing to the
transformational agenda. Be the point person, develop
relationships, ensure deliveries meet and exceed expectations,
introduce and showcase the benefits of lean development and
delivery practices.

2. Transfer of exemplary lean and agile principles and skills
to other, particularly less skilled members of staff. Placement of
these skills in context - why they matter, what value they bring,
how to get the most from them, how to evolve them and spread them
further within the organisation. Examples include delivery
commitment, early communication around impediments, and a
relentless attitude to problem solving.

3. Direct participation and contribution to the Central Build
Team, the group responsible for technical leadership and
transformation relating to the engineering transformation within
Digital Transformation. Regular contribution to discussion and
direction setting, supporting and challenging existing ideas and
frequent, constructive addition of own ideas and opinions into the
mix.

4. Ensure team is conforming to overall Digital Transformation
and LBG standards. Review and challenge established standards when
appropriate.

5. Drive adoption and evolution of lean software development
and delivery practices within own team. Support adoption efforts
across Digital Transformation project teams.

6. Foster and drive a culture of innovation within own team,
among peers and within Digital Transformation. Provide and
contribute to a forum for sharing of innovative ideas and industry
best practices. Ensure this carries through into day-to-day
activities undertaken by own staff and peers.

7. Establishes, maintains and leverages effective working
relationships with all areas of IT and business stakeholders to
improve the overall delivery

8. Understands and applies industry best practice and
innovative thinking, fosters knowledge sharing to provide solutions
for complex/ significant business or specialist issues/ problems
where no precedent may exist, and ensures implementation of
solutions where appropriate

9. Recognises and pro-actively acts to exploit future
opportunities or to avoid or mitigate future problems/
conflicts

10. Ensures compliance with the Bank's IT and business
architectures, books of instructions, procedures and guidelines,
quality standards and all regulatory and statutory requirements,
and where appropriate takes action to ensure the Bank's business is
protected at all times.
 
Key Capabilities, Knowledge Areas Personal Attributes
 
Knowledge of software design and development

• Some knowledge of web development technology; not
necessarily hands-on but exposure is a must.

• Knowledge of agile development practices including, but not
limited to continuous integration, code quality metrics, agile test
frameworks etc.

• Some exposure to platform-level development - services,
APIs, large codebases.

• Production system experience - has lived with the impact of
software and system design decisions on manageability,
supportability, troubleshooting.
Proven technical and team leadership

• Certified ScrumMaster status

• Experience working as a ScrumMaster within successfully
delivered projects

• Experience across the breadth of the traditional Software
Delivery lifecycle including traditional project management
documentation.

• Experience and knowledge of complimentary methodologies,
patterns and practices.

• Understanding of what makes a high-performing team tick

• Confidence to express own opinions, and be pragmatic about
modifying them when appropriate

• Passionate about technology and its application to
real-world problems

• A "team player", working co-operatively and productively
with others across a variety of domains, disciplines and
locations

• Capable of openly exchanging information and providing
