Job Purpose:
We are seeking an exceptionally talented Scrum Master to provide effective collaboration, facilitation, leadership, and set a powerful example for the team. The Scrum Master will be dedicated to a single Scrum team. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent logic and problem solving skills and consistently display a drive to make a difference. We need an individual that puts the team before themselves. They will be responsible for enforcing the rules of Scrum, removing impediments from their team while promoting self-management and constantly improving our work standards.
Principal Responsibilities:
Overall
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks as delegated
- Be a team-player with the ability to work within a collaborative environment
- Own, advocate, and teach Agile (scrum) processes, ensuring that the team is always following the framework and looking for opportunities to continuously improve
- Protect the team from outside interference, consistently removing impediments, and ensuring that the work is delivered as a team
- Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-up meetings, Sprint reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning and other Scrum-related meetings
- Track and communicate sprint/release progress via information radiators
Support the Product Owner
- Facilitate product backlog maintenance, release and sprint planning, story writing and backlog prioritization.
- Work with the Product Owner to maximize ROI and attainment of project objectives
- Ensure all information radiators are current and broadly availabl
- Identify and advocate for prioritization of technical debt work
Support the Team
- Cultivate an environment of trust, good faith, empowerment and creativity
- Empower the team to self-organize and hold each other accountable
- Identify and remove impediments and prevent distractions
- Work with the team to introduce and continuously improve delivery via Agile best practices, (i.e. XP Engineering practices such as: automated testing, refactoring, pair programming, test driven development, and continuous integration)
- Facilitate good retrospectives fostering team growth
- Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
- Facilitate good sprint planning, helping the team make appropriate commitments through story sizing and task definition
- Act as the single voice to the business and technical community on behalf of the team
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors’ degree or combination of relevant education and experience
- Ability to understand both the technical and business objectives and issues
- Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
- Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Must be "self-motivated" as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
- Two or more years of hands-on Scrum Master experience
- Required - Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
- Preferred - Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
- Preferred - Experience using VersionOne
- Preferred - Experience with the implementation and/or use of Salesforce.com including being a CSM on a team(s) supporting Salesforce.com
