Laureate Education, Inc. is adding a key Software Release Manager position to its growing team.
The main focus of the position is to enforce overall release management process; to construct deployment schedules with milestones showing key dependencies between components of the release; to actively build and package those components; and, to ultimately deploy those components into post-Development environments.
You will be working with Developers and other Release Managers to establish an automated build and release process for the enterprise with Agile Development as a maturing corporate competency.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management of multiple software deployment efforts simultaneously, especially the formal planning, risk assessment, and prioritization of associated release efforts.
Organization and hosting of recurring status meetings with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Developers, Systems Administrators, and IT Operations Staff. The successful candidate will confidently field questions and handle issues arising from these meetings while enforcing established software deployment practices.
Organization and hosting of twice monthly risk acceptance meetings with Business Leaders. The successful candidate will present summarized information for regularly scheduled IT Operations hardware maintenance windows and for online learning platform maintenance windows.
Participating in issue/problem resolution as required.
Insuring all documentation and approval requirements for each release are met.
Describing the characteristics of each release through standardized data entry in order to drive Release Management metrics reports.
Managing source code branching (create branches, execute merges) and security classes using Seapine SCM and GIT.
Implementing tactical improvements for Configuration Management and Build and Release tools and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of overall SDLC experience.
3+ years of Software Release Management experience with these hands-on competencies:
- Using version control (GIT and Seapine SCM preferred)
- Reviewing and following deployment instructions provided by the Development team
- Implementing and executing build scripts (ANT, Windows Batch, Shell Scripting)
- Packaging and versioning the various components of deployment packages
- Deployment to non-Development environments, with attention to detail related to environment-specific configuration settings
3+ years of experience with IIS 6.0 or higher and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or higher. Knowledge of state management preferred.
3+ years of experience with Apache and Linux/UNIX.
Knowledge of Agile Development and Continuous Integration strategies, including use of tools like Maven and Hudson.
Demonstrated success communicating across a variety of audiences, including Business Leadership and Staff, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, Quality Assurance Staff, Systems Administrators, Database Administrators, and IT Operations Staff.
Ability to work within established guidelines for source code structure and SDLC processes, while respectfully pitching appropriate changes to other members of the team.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be knowledgeable on automated build tools and implementation (Hudson and Maven experience preferred).
Proven track record of delivering software releases within formally planned time, duration and impact expectations.
Ability to manage conflict, identify compromises, and escalate when appropriate.
Excellent written and oral English skills.
