Position Summary: The Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the executive chef in establishing and maintaining superior standards of operations in the areas of food quality, profitability, timeliness of food, cleanliness and maintenance, performance of staff and daily operations which include aspects of catering internal and external events as well as the staff dining room

Primary Responsibilities:

' Required skills include ability to a create menus using budgetary guidelines and reporting regularly on food costing
' Maintain food safety standards in accordance with Department of Health, train/coach/counsel staff culinary skills while working closely with Executive Chef
' Assisting in the execution and supervision all aspects of food preparation, storage and presentation
' Assist in the management of kitchen staff to achieve full productivity
' Work closely with Catering and Events team to ensure event fulfillment and dining experiences are seamless and meet client expectations
' Responsible for compliance with all health board requirements related to the preparation and service of food and beverage
' Work closely with the executive chef as well as event planners to plan for all events
' Maintain safety and sanitary standards

Qualifications:

' Excellent computer skills including familiarity with using an events and catering database
' Associates Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience preferred
' Strong organizational skills
' Supervisory and kitchen experience required, including 3 years of prior cooking experience preparing a variety of foods
' Drivers license preferred and available transportation
' Flexible hours necessary
' Maintain extremely high standards of food production with a focus on quality and creativity
