Amazon transportation encompasses all of the technology services that enable delivery of shipments to and from our fulfillment centers (FCs) and third party locations globally. As a Operations Manager on the Transportation by Amazon program, you will be a key member of a small cross discipline team that will validate requirements and verify that the software services support the operational processes. This team will develop the operational processes and provide training for the core leadership teams of the new facilities. The team will include a Technical Program Manager, Software Engineers and Operations Managers. The team will be based in Seattle, but will be on-site about 2 months for pre- and post-launch support. The successful candidate will be able to: Define and document efficient and reliable operational processes Validate technology requirements and validate that the technology tools support the operational processes and objectives. Define operational metrics for effectively and efficiently managing operations Define staffing models for service delivery operations Define training curricula for managers and associates Manage and drive staffing plans, schedules, quality initiatives, performance levels, process change initiatives, and other Process Improvement/ Six Sigma initiatives to enable Operations and ultimately the FC to attain Amazonrsquo;s Business Plan Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities. Effectively manage projects, dependencies and bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints Manage detail, establish root cause and be able to extract and manipulate data Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or related field 4+ years of operations team leadership experience in similar distribution / logistics operations 4+ years experience engaging technical teams and business teams 3+ years of Lean techniques such as Kaizen or Six Sigma Preferred Qualifications Master Degree in a related field Strong business judgment Demonstrated problem solving and analytical capability Knowledge of MS Office applications Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units Subject matter Expert in relevant operational disciplines Six Sigma Green or Operational Black Belts
