The Lake County Housing Authority has an immediate opening in the Section 8 Department for
Section 8 Housing Quality Specialist
Under the supervision of the Section 8 Supervisor, the Housing Quality Specialist will perform specific tasks at the professional level relating to conducting initial, renewal, move-out and special inspections of rental units in accordance with Housing Quality Standards and Authority policies and determine required and recommended repairs and will perform other specific tasks at the professional level relating to the planning and execution of a Section 8 rent subsidy program for low and moderate income persons.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to (1) communicate orally and in writing; (2) understand and apply housing regulations and standards; (3) be flexible, prioritize work, manage time effectively and work without close supervision; (4) use good judgment and make good decisions; (5) maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors, tenants, landlords, and social service agencies; (6) be reliable in attendance and punctuality; be certified in Housing Quality Standards or obtain certification within one year of hire. Must have valid driver's license and properly insured vehicle or access to reliable transportation and be bondable.
Desirable Qualifications
College degree; experience in housing management; quick learner, knowledge of completing detailed contracts, bilingual; and knowledge of social and economic problems.
