Institutional Client Services serves our clients who come to the firm to buy and sell financial products, raise funding and manage risk. We do this by acting as a market maker and offering market expertise on a global basis. Institutional Client Services makes markets and facilitates client transactions in fixed income, equity, currency and commodity products. In addition, we make markets in and clear client transactions on major stock, options and futures exchanges worldwide. Market makers provide liquidity and play a critical role in price discovery, which
contributes to the overall efficiency of the capital markets. Our willingness to make markets, commit capital and take risk in a broad range of products is crucial to our client relationships.
The Gas Power trading desk within Global Commodities focuses on making markets in European natural gas and power products to a wide range of clients, including power companies and utilities. The desk covers a range of country markets across Western and Eastern Europe, and trades both structured and vanilla products. The team, which is based in London, is looking to recruit an analyst.
Principal Responsibilities
•Year 1: Undertaking analysis of market fundamentals: database management; fundamental model building for European energy markets (and maintenance); building and developing forecasting tools; accessing relevant information to support senior traders
•Year 2: Transition to market making of European gas and power products to clients and risk management of the trading book
Experience required
•1+ year relevant experience in front office with natural gas and power products
•IT/Programming skills (VBA/SQL/Construction of Databases)
•Fluency in English, with another European language preferable (Eastern European / French)
•Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification and have an excellent academic record
•Ability to work well under pressure
•Solid work ethic and high levels of motivation
•Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
