The Glasgow Finance Division helps senior management and its individual business units manage the firm’s risk by implementing financial controls over our business activities. The division is crucial to safeguarding the firm’s franchise, reporting on current performance, and evaluating business opportunities.

Position description:

We are looking to hire a Vice President into the Global Funding Controllers group.  The Bank Resource Management team is represented in our Glasgow, London and New York offices providing controller support for Firms’ 'funding' activities (with processes relating to a variety of activities and balances: Repo, Stock Loan, Listed Margin, OTC Collateral, External customer and Cross entity trading).    

Key responsibilities of the Glasgow team includes reconciliation of certain sections of the General Ledger comprising monthly Balance Sheet and PL certification, daily PL production, Business Unit reporting plus various regulatory reporting related tasks. This team continues to grow through deployment from other locations.  

The successful candidate’s key deliverables will include:-
• Managing the Stock Loan part of the BRM team covering both EU daily PL production and month-end certification processes over Balance Sheet and Revenue accounts, and the equivalent NA related processes once transitioned.
• Assisting and supporting team members in their investigation of reconciliation differences, establishing explanations for accurate system adjustments within tight timescales and ensuring documentation to required standard of evidence.
• Completion of officer level month end GL certification duties and daily PL review and sign off responsibilities.
• Understanding the business and products; providing a point contact for control based queries.
• Leading or partnering in various initiatives including redesign of internal processes to improve the control framework, system enhancements etc.
• Other ad hoc duties.

Skills Required
Candidates for role should be accountancy qualified with experience of financial services/ products and display the following skill set:  

• Experience in a line product control role managing direct reports
• Committed and self motivated individual who can demonstrate initiative problem solving abilities
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to and manage a team to tight deadlines
• Strong appreciation of escalation and risk awareness
• Strong client relationship abilities
• Analytical skills with a control focus and high regard for attention to detail
• Demonstrate an understanding of account assertions and concepts of audit evidence
• Critical thinking in order to challenge processes, solve for ad hoc queries and creativity to suggest alternative approaches.  
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to deal with colleagues/clients of all levels.

Skills Desired
• MS Access experience would be desirable
