Securities Lending Product Services Supervisor
The Global Securities Lending Product Services team is part of the BlackRock Investment Operations group. Working in close alignment with the Securities Lending business, the team plays a key role in the delivery of the Securities Lending product, and in enabling the business to flexibly adapt to emerging business opportunities and client needs. It also plays a key role in the risk management process, as well as management of internal and external service providers. The team is responsible for several key facets of the post-trade securities loan process, including collateral management, loan and return settlement and reconciliation. As a Securities Lending Product Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the team's successful delivery of these critical functions on a daily basis. This role reports to the Regional Securities Lending Product Services Manager, and is expected to play a key role as part of the global management team.
Investment Operations, more broadly, is responsible for the development of the firm's operating infrastructure to support BlackRock's investment businesses worldwide. IO establishes and coordinates operational processes and procedures internally and externally with clients, custodians, prime brokers, broker-dealers and other vendors and is responsible for managing BlackRock's broker-dealer and custodian bank relationships.
Role Responsibility:
- As part of the management team, assume responsibility for the Securities Lending Operational functions, encompassing all activities required to support the lending business, transaction processing collateral management in accordance with the BlackRock approved credit schedule, as well as team performance measurement and transparency
- Maintain appropriate procedures, controls transparency of risk reporting to manage mitigate risk i.e. reconciliations, recalls, fails management, corporate action event processing restrictions
- Become a subject matter expert and uphold a tight risk framework to protect Blackrock and its Clients by advocating and delivering an error-free working environment
- Responsible for production resource management; ensuring sufficient trained resources are available, following best practice management, team building coaching, holiday cover, recruitment succession planning
- Pro-actively utilize global resource analysis to contribute to the successful and timely delivery of all business initiatives while controlling and minimizing operational costs
- Motivate influence individuals to perform at the highest expected level, regular team individual meetings, KTO setting assessment, delegation of duties, recognition reward for good performance, coaching guidance where improvements identified. Provide, document support clear training plans for team members
- Inspire ownership amongst the team, drive initiatives to completion, empowering and delegating to best utilize resources and motivate people
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of relationships with service providers i.e. Custodians, Borrowers internal functional groups. Ensure appropriate structure reporting exists to manage/monitor expected service levels, identify partner to deliver optimum solutions for business growth efficiency
- As part of the management team, contribute build effective working relationships with all parties (internal and external), including the Securities Lending product through regular communication information sharing
- Champion industry, global and local strategic initiatives, specifically ensuring optimum automation connectivity between BlackRock its partners
- Champion the establishment and nurturing of a globally aligned product operations team
- Develop a detailed understanding of global process nuances
- Develop expertise in local market practices through training, classes outside reading and engagement, to ensure best of class service
- Lead support team members to participate in initiatives as they relate to business process re-design, systems development process improvement
- Create an environment where each team member feels empowered to challenge the status quo and is confident to express their opinion
