Securities Technical Analyst/Programmer

Your job will be to work closely with the APAC FI credit and rates trading desks to understand their technology requirements, translate these into technology deliverables, and deliver them on time and budget.
- You will be accountable for ensuring that software delivered to the desks – whether in-house or vendor – is fit for purpose and satisfies the requirements outlined by the desks.
- The critical initial deliverable is to deliver the migration from Julius to Ion over the coming months. You will be a hands-on member of the team that is tasked with achieving this.
- It will involve you spending time directly liasing with traders and other business sponsors to determine and understand deliverables.
- It will involve you configuring and deploying software into dev, QA and production.
- It will involve you working with filesystems (Linux), databases (Sybase) and other standard technology components.
- It may involve you writing Java code for bespoke components, or for adjustments to the legacy platform.
- It will involve you understanding the bond trading business and its requirements
- You will be working as part of the rapidly-evolving securities technology team
- You will be working closely with colleagues across the globe.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with strong technology skills (strong Java is a big advantage but not a necessity). It would be a significant advantage for the candidate to have good business/technology knowledge of the FI securities business, specifically pricing, electronic trading, trade capture and risk; however given the Apac market we recognise this may not be achievable. What we are really looking for is a motivated, ambitious technologist with a strong interest in the business who wants to get involved in a very high-profile project with huge opportunity for recognition for a strong performer. They should be comfortable managing multiple concurrent tasks and prioritizing accordingly. They should be comfortable facing off directly to technology management and business sponsors, including traders. They will relish the focus and pressure that comes with this highly visible and critical role. They will also be working with the Ion Trading software platform; they should recognise the desirability of expertise in this technology in the market, and that this role represents a matchless opportunity to gain it.
