Security Analyst Internship
Gallup is looking for a talented Security Analyst Intern to join our global MIS team in Omaha, Nebraska. As a Security Analyst Intern, you will learn to audit and assess Gallup's network, applications, systems, processes, personnel and physical security. You will also learn how to manage technologies related to malware and data leak detection/prevention, and will work with the team to develop strategies to all types of threats.
Responsibilities:
Provide consultation to various internal teams to ensure all changes and new developments on system, network and application side remain compliant to industry best practices.
Assist with security audits/assessments on various IT functions.
Review internal security policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Recommend security changes while keeping scalability, efficiency and usability in mind.
Assist the team with the management of Anti-Malware software on systems.
Work with the Security Team to develop countermeasures and remediation techniques for all risks identified during audits and assessments.
Conduct physical security risk assessments on all worldwide locations.
Monitor and respond to security events/logs generated by various systems.
Assist with the development and implementation of the internal security awareness program.
Desired skills and requirements:
Currently enrolled in a two or four-year college program with an emphasis in computer science and/or security.
Strong desire to learn industry best practices and legal/regulatory compliance frameworks like ISO 27002, NIST 800-53, PCI and GLBA.
Conceptual knowledge of various IT components such as system/network/database administration or application development.
Knowledge of Anti-Malware software.
Ability to keep up with emerging threats and countermeasures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
