Reporting to the Global Head of Security in New York City, this position provides strategic direction, daily operations management and leadership to the Corporate Security function including, but not limited to: Security Operations, Incident Investigations, Site/Building Security Monitoring and Access Control. This position will support regional business offices and staff to ensure the security of employees, assets and operations across the region. Candidates must understand the global business environment and should be experienced in the below Security Programs.
Responsibilities:
As part of a Global Security team, the candidate will participate in developing and implementing a global security strategy impacting the BlackRock business in 24 countries and over 60 cities with more than 9,700 employees:
- Provide global security advice to BlackRock management and staff on the protection of personnel, assets and confidential information. The successful candidate must understand the global nature of the BlackRock business and be able to adapt security solutions to the continually changing global environment where BlackRock conducts business.
- Understand global risks and potential threats and their possible impact on the financial services industry. Advise on global security solutions to mitigate or manage those risks and threats and develop security strategies that support the BlackRock business.
As Regional Manager, the candidate will:
- Have responsibility for Fire Safety / Health and Safety Program to ensure that staff is adequately trained in responding and protecting themselves and others when confronted with an emergency. Will ensure BlackRock is compliant with laws and regulations requiring safety measures.
- Conduct and provide Security Risk Assessments (SRA's) advice and support to BlackRock management regarding documented risks. These SRA's will focus on ensuring that BlackRock assets are properly protected at sites within the Director's region.
- Provide security support and advice to the BlackRock Events staff for corporate meetings and events within the region for the purpose of protecting the attendees as well as the protection of the firm's reputation.
- Represent Security at appropriate security meetings/forums throughout the region.
- React and advise on Regional Security developments and Security incidents.
- Assist in the development (security aspects) of business continuity plans within the region to include developing and documenting plans for emergency response, crisis management and business recovery.
- Manage all aspects of Security Officer service to ensure the Security Officers are both efficient and effective in the following duties and responsibilities.
As lead on Security Systems Management, the candidate will:
- Have the overall responsibility to ensure the technical security systems used at BlackRock (C-cure) is used effectively and efficiently to support the protection of assets. This responsibility includes working with technical vendors to ensure equipment remains operational and is technically supported during its usage.
- Ensure Security Officers are trained in all aspects of access control and that Officers maintain technical competence through ongoing training on the technology deployed by Security.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of Corporate Security experience with a broad-based and demonstrated knowledge of Security practices in a global business environment.
- Prior law enforcement experience or security industry certifications preferred (PSP, CPP).
- Extensive familiarity and experience with all facets of Physical Security and access control systems (C-Cure).
- Able to demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to create and document policies and procedures defining Security's roles and responsibilities.
- Ability to work and support other business units in matters associated with Security-risk mitigation.
- Experience in assessing security risks to corporate assets. Proven experience in delivering mitigation solutions to those defined risks through formal written reports to management.
- Experience in the development of Security Training material and its subsequent delivery to employees.
- Prior management experience to include the development of subordinates with supervision over co-workers and budgetary matters.
- Four year college degree from an accredited university or college
