Security Monitoring Specialist Job in Hockessin 19707, Delaware US
Aavalar has been engaged by a high profile client South of Philadelphia PA to provide Security Monitoring Specialist who will have the critical task of monitoring Network Devices, Servers, Firewalls, etc. to determine if systems and networks have been compromised by or are vulerable to hackers. Successful candidates will really need to understand how networks and networked devices work together (protocols, security software, routers, etc.) and how a hacker might exploit those systems.

What projects will the consultant be involved with?:
Ongoing diligent monitoring of data security hardware/software.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor of the network for security incidents, detect vulnerable systems and devices, and help to fix the problem so that the network remains secure.
• Assist first level operations and monitoring specialist
• Report incidents as they occur.
• Initiate vulnerability scans when there is an expected breach of security.
• Make recommendations for tuning Intrusion Protection and Intrusion Detection systems on network devices.
Role with the group: Security Monitoring Specialist
Required Skills:
• At least a year of experience in security monitoring and a basic understanding of how hackers operate
• Experience with and understanding of TCP/IP protocol, OSI model, and TCP/UDP ports, services, etc.
• Common OS and domain structures (WindowsNT, 2000 Active Directory, etc.), servers, services, and associated vulnerabilities
• Monitoring and the analysis of Firewall logs, router syslogs, and network/host-based Intrusion Detection/ Prevention systems
• Experience with the tuning of Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Protection System, firewalls, etc..
• Solid understaning of LAN/WAN technologies, protocols, routers, switches, etc..
• Experien with Linux, and Windows operating systems, and applications.
Desired Skills:
• Security specific certifications. Examples: CISSP
