Senior Accountant
Purpose:
The Senior Accountant - Reporting and Consolidations is responsible for providing support to Minto's Reporting group by preparing the Company's consolidation, applying generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information and preparing accurate and timely financial reports, statements and analysis packages for both external financial statements and internal management reporting.
The Senior Accountant will be expected to exhibit the highest attention to detail while working on numerous routine and ad hoc accounting support functions. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Participate in the monthly/quarterly/yearly consolidation process for financial and management reporting by:
- Maintaining a monthly checklist and coordinating the accumulation of documents from the divisional accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Reviewing all reporting information received from the divisional accounting teams and reconciling intercompany transactions and investment in subsidiary activity
- Identifying material variances and obtaining explanations or correcting information
- Preparing the various consolidations, including recording all eliminating entries (intercompany investments and transactions) and verifying and calculating consolidation adjustments and entries
- Preparing supporting schedules and any other deliverables
- Prepare and document all consolidation related journal entries as changes occur.
- Assist in analyzing financial results and account balances to ensure accuracy, GAAP compliance and reasonableness of variance explanations. Document relevant commentary as appropriate.
- Maintain mapping from GL accounts to the consolidation tool
- Meet our internal and external deadlines by demonstrating strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize.
- Proactively identify issues and implement process improvements to streamline accounting processes.
- Provide support for the consolidation tool (BPC) by performing tests and analysis to ensure continued development for the tool and ongoing user support.
- Ad hoc requests and other special projects and analyses as necessary
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business unit accounting and finance staff.

- Knowledge of IFRS or ASPE
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel
