Senior Accountant I - SGA Accounting
Directly responsible for all financial and accounting activities related to assign SGA G/L's, processes and financial entities. Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and related analysis. Under minimal supervision conducts and continually monitors financial control processes, performing technical analysis and ensures that accounting transactions are executed in accordance with established standards of internal controls. Acts as a financial resource and advisor involving assigned business partners, department peers and Finance Management. Apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures towards the completion of difficult accounting assignments. Support new product and project initiatives by identifying and implementing appropriate operational and financial processes and related controls.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Perform detailed financial statement analysis, prepare, compile and document accounting related journal entries and account reconciliations.
* Prepare, process and review complex journal entries and account reconciliations for the SGA Accounting Team to ensure technical standards are met and financial results are accurate and timely.
* Provide timely and accurate financial information to support effective decision making.
* Effectively monitor and participate in the monthly close process and support budget and forecast activities.
* Design and ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place for all SGA Accounting processes and consult business partners to ensure sound internal controls.
* Work with Information Systems, Marketing, Operations, Financial Planning Analysis, and others to more efficiently use company financial systems and improve data flows.
* Function as the primary contact for financial issues involving assigned departments responding in a timely and professional manner.
* Assist SGA Accounting Manager in enhancing and documenting current processes, departmental procedures, financial reporting and analysis.
* Represent the SGA Accounting and Controller's Team on cross-functional teams and special projects.
* Assist with coaching and developing Controller's Team accountants to help achieve their analytical skill set, job enrichment and increased efficiencies to produce high quality results.QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum 4 years of Accounting experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; MBA or CPA preferred.
* In-depth knowledge of financial principles, practices and procedures and general accounting practices.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills required including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership and associates.
* Superior PC skills in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Access and Word) required.
* Strong analytical and decision making abilities required.
* Ability to work independently
* Strong appetite for change and new challenges
