Senior Accountant

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting the accounting processes of the company, to include the month-end close process, completion of account reconciliations, production of periodic financial reports, reporting to Masco Corporation, maintenance of accounting records, adherence to internal controls, and providing leadership within the accounting team.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in month-end accounting close processes in compliance with critical reporting deadlines.
• Prepare journal entries, audit schedules, year-end tax schedules and other required quarterly schedules accurately and on-time to support the Masco financial reporting schedule.
• Perform general ledger account analysis and reconciliations of key accounts as assigned.
• Assist external auditors with annual audit process providing appropriate documentation as needed.
• Proactively plan for and support year-end accounting close process.
• Perform ad-hoc financial analyses as needed.
• Initiate and participate in departmental continuous improvement activities.
• Adherence to all appropriate financial policies such as GAAP and SOX.
• Prepare and submit monthly financial statements.
• Participate via attendance or preparation of materials for the monthly financial review meeting.
• Provide training and support to less experienced team members to facilitate the professional growth and development within the department.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• 5 years experience in general ledger and financial statement preparation.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and changing environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department and across the organization.
• Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management.
• Previous knowledge or experience with SOX compliance.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• MBA
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
• Prior ERP experience (Oracle, SAP, Ariba, and/or PeopleSoft).
• Previous Manufacturing or related industry experience.
• Lean Process Experience (Green or Orange Belt, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
• Hyperion Suite 9 experience.
