Mutual of Omaha is seeking a talented leader to underwrite the multi-million dollar NCAA-sponsored intercollegiate sports block of business and to perform pricing and analytical actuarial support to contribute to effective product management and development. This individual will contribute to the measurement and achievement of corporate profit, growth, information and planning objectives through effective underwriting as well as the development and reporting of research or other actuarial information and may be responsible for the direct supervision of others. Essential Functions: Analyzes data related to the risk being underwritten in order to determine what benefits can be offered, if any, and at what rates. Conducts research in order to secure additional data needed to make determinations on benefits and rates. Communicates with brokers concerning underwriting decisions and procedures. Conducts special analytical projects related to the management of both financial and non-financial aspects of the product or product grouping. Analyze financial and non-financial data to identify trends or indicators and make recommendations related to management of the product or product grouping based on analysis of the results. Participate in actuarial projects and prepare, analyze and verify the accuracy of annual or periodic reports. Develop detailed product rates for the given specifications Coordinate and compile data from various sources for the preparation of statistical reports, prepare and submit premium and claim reserve figures and summarize various pricing and financial studies. Calculate rates for new products or product modifications. Calculate rates for re-rating efforts. Develop rate scales and detailed rates. Create and develop detailed financial projections for product development efforts. Review product specifications and develop cost and schedule. Assist in the cost/benefit analysis of changes during product detailed design or implementation. Assess financial impact of compliance changes and other environmental factors impacting the product or product grouping. Prepare actuarial memoranda for filing with state insurance departments (subject to approval by supervisors). Prepare reports for distinct management needs. Develop and prepare ad hoc and standard reports for line of business and product line. Identify preliminary reporting requirements for business cases. Track product expense experience against initial budget projections/expense allowables. May direct project activities, coordinate research, and/or train and answer questions of lower level technicians, depending on the nature of the actuarial assignments and departmental structure. Risk Management; Identify and assess risk in actuarial responsibilities. Comply with actuarial standards of practice, precepts and enterprise risk management responsibilities.
