The primary purpose of the Senior Advisor - Mine Monitoring and Control (MMC) is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Rio Tinto's Mining Operations through the support the ongoing development, implementation and embedding of the MMC application suite, with specific emphasis on mine management and machine guidance.  This is an influencing role that draws on expertise as a technical subject matter expert, systems specialist, problem solver, and facilitator.
 
The role engages with stakeholders up to General Manager within the Rio Tinto organisation, and at all levels within the vendor organisations involved in the Mine Monitoring and Control program.
 
Reporting into the Principal Advisor - Surface Mining, initially this exciting opportunity will see you focus on improving the capability of the systems, improving the operators/controls knowledge and performance and maximising operating hours with future work focused on productivity efficiencies. Regular travel will be required initially focused on Iron Ore operations in Western Australia. You will also demonstrate your capacity to develop and maintain effective relationships at various levels both within the business and with external stakeholders.
 
A formal qualification in engineering is desirable, coupled with significant experience in a similar role.  Having a minimum of three to five years recent experience working an open pit environment will be essential to your application.  You will have systems experience with Modular Mining products and also Caterpillar products (CAES and Aquila).
