Senior Advisor - Load and Haul | Rio Tinto Technology and Innovation | Surface Mining Operations

Rio Tinto's Technology and Innovation (TI) group operates closely with individual Rio Tinto Business Units worldwide, providing a range of support and service functions to establish and transfer best practices. The TI group develops strategies to drive performance improvements to ensure that technical innovation provides a source of long term competitive advantage.
 
The position exists within the Mining Technology structure of TI, which includes the Surface Mining Operations team. The primary objective of this team is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Rio Tinto's Mining Operations. Reporting to the Principal Advisor - Surface Mining Operations, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing a suite of standard load and haul optimisation initiatives for both existing and Autonomous fleets within the Rio Tinto group. Initially, these initiatives will focus on maximising operating hours with future work focused on productivity efficiencies. Regular travel to sites will be required initially focused on Iron Ore operations in Western Australia.
 
Your responsibilities will include providing technical input and support at the sites, and where appropriate direct leadership of the group with load and haul improvements and optimisation. This includes training, facilitating and implementing world class practices. In partnership with site stakeholders and industry groups, you will proactively identify and maintain group wide surface mining load and haul standards, guidelines, metrics, valuations and actively contribute to the Rio Tinto surface mining load and haul collaborative forum.  As stakeholder collaboration and presentation is such a core component of this role your public speaking and presentation skills will be strong.   
 
Engineering degree qualified you will have extensive experience at multiple mine sites in technical and production roles with specific responsibility for planning and operation of surface mining load and haul activities. Your current technical knowledge will include equipment selection and matching, mining methodologies, machine application and haul road optimisation.
